Book Returns box
Our Dear Student Union has bought the library a book returns box.
This is an 'out-of-hours' book returns box and can be used when the library closes each evening, until the library reopens the following morning.
The returns box is in the library lobby and will be opened for use when the library system is closed down in the evening, and locked when the library opens in the morning.
Library staff will remove books in the morning and return them, as if they had been returned the previous day. The only exception to this procedure will be the borrowing of Reference books issued for a 2 hour loan period, which must be returned to the library desk at the end of that loan period.
Please do make use of it and if you have any feedback please let us know.

3D Anatomy for Chiropractic: now available in AnatomyTV
3D Anatomy for Chiropractic, developed by several of the AECC Faculty, is now available within AnatomyTV.
To access this resource, visit the Medical Images intranet page, click on AnatomyTV (you will need to login with the username/password listed on that page if you are off-campus).

New web resource: Acland's video atlas of human anatomy
The library subscribes to an excellent new resource - Acland's video atlas of human anatomy:
Acland's Anatomy supports the teaching and learning of anatomy with more than 300 narrated videos of real cadaver specimens. Our subscription gives you access via the Intranet (login required) on and off-campus. This anatomy atlas explores the fundamental structures of the musculoskeletal system, the head and neck, and the internal organs, using rotating videography showing structures and movements in three dimensions.
We'd be grateful for your feedback, please let us know what you think of this resource.

New AECC Library Integrated search
The AECC Integrated search (available via our databases intranet page) is our new search interface which allows you to search across a range of major databases simultaneously.
It searches across PubMed, Index to Chiropractic Literature, MEDLINE (full-text), AMED, Alt-Health-Watch, Cochrane Library, Best Bets (& some e-books) all from one search bar.
The database will also make finding AECC full-text articles a more seamless, and faster, process.

Axiom Neuro: new software
The Axiom Neuro software has been installed on 4 PCs throughout the college
"Axiom Neuro is an interactive functional atlas, a new, visually-oriented program that uses over 125 3D animations with nearly 75 minutes of running time to teach the neuroanatomy of the spinal cord and brainstem as well as the functional anatomy of cranial nerves and the effects of strokes and other common neurological pathologies."
Where can I find it?
The software is installed on:
1 PC in each of the computer rooms (Library & 2 in Cavendish House)
1 on the group study room SMART Board PC (109 Cavendish House)
There are labels on the PCs to indicate where the software is available.
If you have any problems or feedback please let us know.

Borrow a DVD for longer: DVDs are now One-Day-Loan
Feedback from a recent Library Survey indicated that you would like to take DVDs out for longer than overnight loan.
As a result, we have created a new loan category: 'One-Day-Loan', this means you can borrow a DVD from the Library anytime from 8.45AM onwards and it doesn't need to be returned until 10AM the following morning.

Where to find new books in the library
To promote new library books, we put them on the 'New Books' shelves, near the library counter. Have a look at our Facebook photo album, to see where this is.
They're ready to borrow, please take a look...don't leave them on the shelf!

New - SpringerImages
Images.md has changed and has become part of SpringerImages
This new database includes Images.md, images from SpringerLink and the 'Biology Image Library'. The new platform is 'significantly better with more functionality'.
SpringerImages can be accessed via our online databases Intranet page (you will need to login). If you would like to use SpringerImages off campus, you will need to register on campus first, at present.

We have some good news for you - it's a new database and it isn't covered in snow!
The Library now subscribe to MEDLINE Full Text, the 'world's most comprehensive source of full text for medical journals'. This database holds full text articles for more than 1,450 journals and searchable citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals indexed in MEDLINE.
MEDLINE can be accessed via our Databases Intranet page (you will need to login if off-campus) and the individual journals can also be accessed at title level via our A-Z list.
We hope you find this a useful addition to our collection. If you have any questions or comments please let us know, your feedback is invaluable.
